Known simply as the subway singer, Mike Yung is an example of what it means to live out your dreams. The 58-year-old man has spent some 38 years of his life singing in the New York City subway system. Though he has immense talent as you can see for yourself in this video published below, he makes on average only $50 a day in donations. Add to that the fact that he has been stabbed nine times over the years and one has to wonder what gives Mike Yung the determination he has to make it as a singer.
HAS MIKE YUNG EVER ACHIEVED SUCCESS AS A SINGER?
Yes, stabbings aside, Yung has seen some of his goals come to fruition. For example, in addition to the success Yung has achieved in the subway, he actually made it all the way to the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent in 2017. His unique booming voice that captivated the judges and audience on the show was achieved by singing in his church as a young boy. Today, it still reverberates off the subway walls, amazing onlookers anytime he and his makeshift band perform.
HE HASN’T RECORDED AN ALBUM, YET
Though he has become well known since his appearance on America’s Got Talent, he still hasn’t realized his dream of recording his own album. He recently started a fundraiser with Kickstarter to realize this hard fought dream. As of March 2nd, he had raised $36,000 of the $75,000 needed to see his dream come true.
WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT WORKING FOR YOUR DREAMS
God gives us all gifts in this life. Finding a way to utilize them is often the realization of living a dream. The Bible addresses how to ensure you achieve your goals or dreams in Proverbs 16:3, which says, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
